Lucian has devised a risk mitigation strategy to help with this.
Take a look...If a chef's CV should be edible then a project manager's CV should have a risk management strategy. Here's what I've considered.
Project fit
New hire does not fit with project team.
Lowering of morale and team effectiveness.
Interview Lucian and test for ability to integrate with team.
Work flow
New hire is not familiar with company working practices.
Delays in delivery, schedule slippage.
Study of internal company practice set early in Lucian’s plan.
Experience
New hire is new to the domain.
New hire adds no value to project, programme or corporation.
Lucian already has a detailed investigation into your companies business.
Quality assurance
No previous experience of new hire to assess quality of work.
New hire provides sub-standard quality of work.
Ask Lucian to reduce rates for early part of contract while you carry out quality assessment.
Team communication
New hire is unable to communicate effectively.
Project or programme issues not escalated in a timely fashion.
Review this CVP. Interview the candidate to see how he performs in person.
